DESCRIPTION:
Counter Attack is a game for two players, simulating a football match. Both players start by choosing 16 players (1 Goalkeeper, 10 outfield players and 5 substitutes) from the 46 included in the base box (this can be extended to 200 with some expansions sold separately). After that, the two managers can freely choose the formation they want and place the player tokens however they like before moving on to kick off.
BOX CONTENTS:
The base box includes two teams with their player tokens, white with a red stripe for Ajax and black with white stripes for Juventus, but thanks to their colour schemes they can represent a handful of other sides. FEEDBACK:
Counter Attack is everything we hoped it would be: a fast paced game with a lot of tactical thinking and planning required as the match unfolds. It is the simplicity of the processes that makes us fall for it, because it really keeps us focused on the tactical side, on how a football manager thinks and even on what goes through the players' heads during the match. Another positive aspect of CA is the randomness of the outcomes, because for some actions we have to roll a die. This clearly represents a player's form during the match: each player has a set of fixed attributes but, just like in football, there are moments when a player is better able to pull off a pass, a dribble or a shot/save, and the die simulates that uncertainty brilliantly.
CONCLUSION:
In short, Counter Attack is a brilliant two player game for football lovers, in which no two matches will ever be the same and above all you will enjoy 90 minutos as intense and vivid as a match of your favourite team. There are tons of addons (players and teams) we can't wait to collect, and the quality of the components is incredible, from the pitch to the cards and the player tokens.
