Your striker is not scoring in FM? Some change tactics, some sell the player. And then there is Fitzy, who went and talked to him directly.
A save with Lens
Fitzy, as he is known in the community, wanted a challenge in a European second division. After a lot of thought, he chose Racing Club de Lens in the 2016/17 season, French champions in 1998 and, at the time, in Ligue 2.
The press predicted a modest seventh place. Fitzy admitted he looked more at the club’s facilities than at the players in the squad, and paid for it: striker Cristian López simply was not scoring.

The complaint by direct message
So Fitzy went looking for the Spaniard on Twitter. He noticed his direct messages were open and, as a joke, wrote to tell him he needed him to score more goals in his save. He told the story like this:
“He was underperforming, which was actually normal for my strikers, it must have been my tactics. I decided to look up the club and the players on Twitter to find out more about them. I noticed he had his DMs open and, as a joke, I contacted him to express my unhappiness with what he was doing in my save. I never thought he would reply.”
The next day, the former Real Madrid B and Cluj striker joined in the fun and gave advice worthy of a coach:
“Give him an extra bonus per goal. Or put him on the bench for two games and he will surely get annoyed and score more.”
Fitzy confessed he had never thought of the bonus and started using the tip with all his strikers.
In the game, it did not work
The story did not have a happy ending. In real life, Cristian López scored 17 goals in France that season, plus 4 in Romania for Cluj (according to Transfermarkt). In Fitzy’s save, he kept missing the target, was loaned out in January and left for good the following summer.

Which player would you message asking for more goals?
