SaS25 Hardcore Mod: an FM24 skin with no potential on show

SaS25 Hardcore Mod is a modded version of the SaS25 Final skin for FM24, made by gergo fmstories with help from Holzi. The idea is simple but radical: hide everything that gives away a player’s potential. Potential stars disappear, and attributes are no longer numbers. Instead, they become words that don’t always match the real value. Version 3.0 came out on 18 October 2026 and it’s free.

One warning, though: this skin is for FM24 only. In August, the author explained that he doesn’t play FM26 and that skinning the new engine is much harder. So, for now, there is no FM26 or FM27 version.

Who SaS25 Hardcore Mod is for

This skin is for anyone who feels FM has become too easy. In real life, no manager knows a 16-year-old’s potential. With SaS25 Hardcore Mod, neither do you. You have to watch matches, read the stats and follow how players develop, just like a real scout.

It works especially well for youth-only saves, long careers in the lower leagues and data-driven recruitment. On the other hand, if you love hunting wonderkids by their stars, this isn’t the skin for you. It was also designed for big screens. It works on a laptop, but the author warns that two screens are tight: the player overview popup and the player comparison.

Attributes as words, and not always exact

Every player and staff attribute becomes a word: Awful, Poor, Okay, Good, Great and Elite. On average they match 0–6, 7–8, 9–11, 12–14, 15–16 and 17–20.

The trick is in the rest. The words are slightly unpredictable, so two players with 14 dribbling can show as Good and Great. It’s never more than one step off, but you can’t tell which way it leaned, so you can’t work back to the number. Players at other clubs only get four words, so you really have to scout them.

There are sensible exceptions. Pace and acceleration stay exact, because in real life they’re measured with tracking data. Determination and natural fitness, on the other hand, are hidden. Key attributes for each role are still highlighted, and you can change the word colours and ranges if you like.

Goodbye, potential

Potential stars are gone completely. Current ability stars are replaced by vaguer terms such as “Good League” or “Leading player”. Lines like “could be as good as Pedri” also disappear from reports.

SaS25 Hardcore Mod also removes scout ratings, which were really a hint about potential. In their place you get analyst ratings, based only on match performance. You can add them to shortlists and search views.

There are two new ideas as well. First, every player gets a development verdict, but it has nothing to do with real potential, so it is often wrong. Second, there’s a six-tier experience label, from Graduate to Veteran, based on career appearances. It gives a rough idea of how much a player can still grow, without revealing anything the game knows.

More realistic reports

Pros and cons have been rewritten, so there are no more hints about big matches, consistency or injury proneness. Injury information is still there, but it’s real: it’s based on the last 12 months.

Each player also gets a written summary, as if a coach wrote it, plus a strengths and weaknesses tab that compares stats with other players in the same position. Pre-match and post-match reports have been redesigned, and the tactics screen has a more detailed opposition report.

As a result, attribute search only works for physical attributes. Staff search can’t filter by attributes either, and some, such as judging potential, are hidden.

New stats and screens

To make up for what it hides, the skin gives you plenty of data. The player popup and player comparison have pizza charts with per-90 stats and percentiles. Tactics and match-end screens show progressive passes, xA and possession won and lost, and the match review has icons for goals, assists, cards and substitutions.

Club, nation and competition overviews have been reworked, with around 15 custom backgrounds for competitions such as the Champions League, the Premier League and the Europa League. Processing and Around the World screens show more news, transfers and results, and there’s an X-style social media panel.

Modern role names

With the language file, some roles get more modern names, closer to FM26’s. For example, Regista becomes Dynamic Deep Playmaker, Mezzala becomes Half Winger, Trequartista becomes Free Role and Libero becomes False Centre-Back. The roles themselves don’t change, only the names.

What’s new in version 3.0

  • A more detailed opposition report on the tactics screen.
  • More news, transfers and results while processing.
  • Stat drill-downs when you click the pizza charts.
  • Player comparison with career, stats and charts.
  • Reworked club, nation and competition overviews with custom backgrounds.
  • Ability counts again in recruitment focuses, which gives more results in scout searches.

Download SaS25 Hardcore Mod

The skin and the language file are separate downloads. We recommend both, because the language file is what makes the development hints vague. Without it, pros and cons still hint at potential. If you’d rather have a lighter version, 1.7 is also available, with fewer hardcore features.

Tips and known issues

  • Still seeing potential stars? Clear the cache, restart the game and reload the skin. If they’re still there, keep only this skin in your skins folder and repeat.
  • Your panels keep resetting? In Preferences > Interface, untick Automatically override custom panels.
  • Word colours and ranges: colours are in settings\Sas25Final-Hardcore Mod settings.xml and ranges in classes\attribute_word.xml. Edit the values, save and reload the skin.
  • Letters instead of words: the graphics\gergo\rate\rates_notused folder has D to A+ grades you can copy into graphics\gergo\attributes.
  • Custom databases: if yours starts in a different season, the experience label may be slightly off.
  • Your layouts: custom views and bookmarks from another skin don’t carry over. Take screenshots before switching.

The original skin is by Sasmaz, who allowed this version. However, he has retired from skinning and asked not to be contacted about issues, so please report any problems in the author’s thread on the SI forum. Some panels are by Mustermann, and the per-90 stats come from Statman.

If you still prefer the original skin, we also have Sas24 for FM24, plus the rest of our FM24 skins.

The files are hosted by their original authors. FMPortugal only points to the official download page — all credit goes to their creators.
