A few days ago, Sports Interactive opened a Reddit thread for questions about the FM27 deep dives. Chris Groves, SI’s Senior Community Manager, posted it less than a month before launch. The thread gathered around 260 comments, and SI answered some of them.
We read the whole thread. Here is what was confirmed, what went unanswered and what the community keeps asking for.
What SI confirmed about FM27
- Launch Preview one or two weeks before launch. The start date will be announced. For the launch date and the rest of the news, see our FM27 news.
- Pre-orders with no date. SI has not announced when they open. Buying on PC from the usual retailers gives you access to the Launch Preview.
- Saves carry over. You can bring FM24 and FM26 saves into FM27.
- New licences. FM27 adds more licensed leagues and competitions. Full details will be revealed before launch.
- Player database without a club. Even when unemployed, you can view the player database.
- Records in full screen. The club history has tabs for All-Time Records and In-Game Records, both in full screen.
- Finances. Finance areas move to full screen instead of pop-ups, and messages bring a more detailed monthly financial summary.
Training and Tactical Effectiveness in FM27
Building a weekly plan is simple: under “Schedule Focus”, choose “Create New Schedule”. You can then load, edit and export the plan, and pick it quickly from the same menu.
On top of that, there are a few answers that matter if you like to manage training in detail:
- There is no drag and drop for moving sessions around. SI says it will not be in FM27.
- Tactical Effectiveness also applies to AI teams, with the same effects on performance in matches.
- You can delegate training to your staff, but SI says the system works best when you are directly involved.
- Tactical Tweaks can be set for individual players, not only for the whole team.
- You can now set specific training sessions for the reserve and youth teams.
Data and analysis in FM27
Pass analysis is back, through the Data Hub and the in-match data options. SI promises more detail before launch.
What is still unresolved in FM27
However, not everything got an answer. SI has responded with small adjustments, and the community is asking for bigger changes. These are the points that came up most often in the thread:
- Staff attributes. In FM27 they remain text-based. SI is looking at bringing numbers back in the future, but there is no date.
- Newgens. Attribute distribution will not change much in FM27. SI says some fixes are planned, but the bigger overhaul is left for next year.
- AI behaviour. SI says it makes adjustments every cycle, but has not gone into detail. Squad building and buying and selling players were the most criticised topics.
- Post-launch updates. They will come, as always, but there are no details yet.
Some questions went unanswered, such as dynamic reputation, names cut off on the tactics board, squad comparison, the kit editor and friendlies.
Our take
Having an SI representative answer publicly, a few weeks before launch, is good news. It is also true that many answers end with “we will keep looking into it”, and the community has already noticed. For FM27, what matters most is whether the training and Tactical Effectiveness changes can be felt on the pitch. The beta will be the test.
