Updated version: Football Manager 2027 News: what we already know
What can we expect from this new edition of Football Manager?
Football Manager has been, quite literally, the elixir football fans needed while a virus suspended football all over the world.
The last version was a big success, and the next one has a lot to offer!
Confirmation
The Sports Interactive released an official statement on how they dealt with the pandemic and what it means for the future. The full statement contains some very good news for FM fans, as Sports Interactive says that "despite all the problems happening in the world, the new version of Football Manager will be released this year".
Possible release date
In the past, the game came out around the beginning or end of November, but always in that month. However, according to the Sports Interactive statement, the new FM game "will be released a little later than originally planned"
So we can expect the 2021 version some time from December onwards; yes, that's our bet.
Beta
As usual, the beta should arrive a few weeks before the game is released. That gives fans the chance to try the game and, as always, will allow the save game created in the beta to be playable in the full version. With any luck, we will get the beta in the first or second week of December.
Licences
There are official FM20 versions for Arsenal and Valencia that fans can buy, but as always, licences are a problem for many leagues. There is no getting around Juventus' three year deal with PES, so get ready for the famous Zebre in Serie A again.
It would be good for Sports Interactive to keep making official team versions, or simply try to get proper licences for the Premier League and other leagues.
Novas funcionalidades
The 2020 edition introduced Club Vision, the Code of Conduct and Tactical Insights. Many of them were small tweaks to help accessibility for new players or streamline some processes that were frustrating the oldschool. The game was well polished and received strong reviews. As always, there doesn't seem to be much to add to make the admin side more realistic.
There are still some problems in the match engine, like players shooting from completely ridiculous angles, or the classic where they smash it into the side netting when they could easily have passed to the teammate standing in front of goal. It would be good to see more focus on the training ground and make that area of the game a bit easier to navigate.
Plataformas
Sports Interactive also brought very good news in its latest statement, confirming that its 'games will be on more platforms and available in more stores than ever' this year. FM20 was released on PC, Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia, so could this suggest a console edition?
FM20 is on Xbox Game Pass for PC, so an Xbox One release for FM21 could be viable. For now, we will have to be patient.
