Note: this challenge ran in 2020 and has ended. It remains here as a record of how the community helped improve the Portuguese database.
Did you want FM 2021 for free and your name in the game’s credits (and on your CV)? In 2020, the Official Portuguese Research team (FMPortugal.net) gave that chance to anyone who helped find errors and missing records in the database.
The idea was simple: you won prizes and your favorite game became more complete, with your local team looking more and more like the real thing. The database improves every year, and this time we counted on you to raise the bar.

10 points: information about specific clubs (only teams from playable divisions; teams from non-playable leagues were worth 1 point).

- Players with wrong positions (for example, a center back listed as a striker)
- Players with the wrong preferred foot

- Missing or wrong teams, or wrong statistics in a player’s history
- Translation errors (with a screenshot from the game)
- Wrong competition rules
- Wrong founding dates for stadiums and clubs
- Missing favored and disliked personnel for clubs
- Missing club affiliations (senior level only)
- Wrong main club colors
- Missing close friendships between players or staff
- Missing favorite clubs of players or staff
- Other errors
The rules
- We did not want outdated transfers, players at the wrong club, or statistics from 2019/20.
- We did not want subjective information, such as attributes.
- Player histories were to include league statistics only.
- Only wrong or missing data in FM 2020 counted.
- Priority went to those who sent credible sources with their data.
- Everything was reviewed and each participant received the points for each piece of information.
The deadline was August 1, 2020, and entries were sent to geral@fmportugal.net.
