A few years ago we told you here the story of German Sepp Hedel and his 333 seasons, which at the time seemed an unbeatable number. Well, it was beaten. And not by a little.
528 years and 137 days
On July 12, 2023, Guinness World Records confirmed the new record: Paweł Siciński, from Gliwice, Poland, played a Football Manager 2018 save spanning 528 years and 137 days of game time. He started in January 2018 and only stopped on May 21, 2546.
To get there he spent 10,887 real hours. Back to back, that would be more than 453 days in front of the screen.
The numbers of a (virtual) lifetime
- 40 clubs and 80 national teams managed;
- 25,084 games;
- 73% win rate.
Think about what that means: generations of regens who were born, played, retired and had regen sons who have also retired. And he was always there, in the dugout.
What about the Portuguese?
Before Hedel, the record once belonged to a Portuguese player, Paulo Santarém Andrade, whom we have already talked to here at fmportugal, with 164 seasons. It seems little today, but it was a record. Anyone out there want to try to bring it back to Portugal? All you need is about 530 years of play and a lot of patience.
