If you get annoyed when your 34-year-old goalkeeper starts losing his reflexes in FM, get ready for this one.
Lamberto Boranga played more than 100 Serie A games for Fiorentina, Brescia and Cesena. He also played for Parma, in Serie B, where he shared a dressing room with a 19-year-old kid called Carlo Ancelotti. Boranga was 34 at the time.
So far, a normal career. The rest is anything but.
82 and still playing
On October 14, 2025, aged 82, Boranga went back in goal in an official game for Trevana, of the Italian 7th tier, against Foligno. He became the oldest player ever to appear in an organized match in Italy.
And outside football? He is a cardiologist. So if anything went wrong, at least the doctor was already on the pitch.
His attributes in FM26
Of course the story reached Football Manager. In April 2026 it emerged that Boranga is in FM26 with tailor-made attributes. Determination is his strong point, agility and natural fitness sit at 12 and, as you would expect, pace and stamina are much lower.
In other words, the researchers were honest. They did not make him a star. They made him an 83-year-old gentleman who still wants to play, and that seems perfect to us.
Anyone brave enough to sign him for a save? He might go down in history as the first goalkeeper to retire at 90.
